Remaining Yukimotos

Here are some quick portraits of Tsubomi's family, as of the present day in Pokimono.

Masashi Yukimoto, Age 59, Unfezant (Pink, greying hair)
- Masashi is an embittered, serious samurai living in the ruins of his home, having refused to leave during the Kami Trio War. Embittered by the events that unfolded after Tsubomi's birth, he is cold towards others and feels lonely even when surrounded by others. Not that he's frequently in the compny of anyone besides his eldest son; he refuses to have guests, paranoid of any errant Nakaishis that may still linger. Masashi only anticipates the arrival of one person: his long-lost wife, Yoshie, whom he waits for everyday. Years of stress and harsh battle have taken their toll on him, and his health is slowly eroding.

Junrou Yukimoto, Age 33, Archeops (Blonde hair)
- Junrou is a gentle, docile samurai who, in a perfect world, would be living an infinitely happier life as a healer. While he encouraged his siblings to carve their own paths, Junrou himself gave up his own dreams to stay with his father when the Kami Trio War began, feeling he would be responsible for leaving his father alone and feeling obligated to support him as the eldest son. Due to Masashi's declining health and Junrou's weak will, Junrou does most of the work needed to restore their broken-down household.

Kazuki Yukimoto, Age 31, Archeops (Blue hair)
- Kazuki is a quiet, driven Sohei who throws himself into any task he undertakes. Driven by both rebellion against his father and a true passion for the deities, he tries hard to be an exemplary Sohei. He used to be more stubborn about not cooperating, but he changed his mind after getting terribly injured in a fight against intruders in his home. Even so, while he is respectful towards others, Kazuki is more reticent than his siblings. He communicates the least out of all of them, sending very few letters to them throughout the year. Devoted to his profession, he answers to Arceus above all else.

Kenta Yukimoyo, Age 28, Archeops (Green hair)
- Kenta is a boisterous, enthusiastic blacksmith who takes pride in his superb craftsmanship. He puts immense effort and precision into each tool and weapon he forges, even giving each one a unique name. He has an incredibly long list of names that he crosses off as he goes. Kenta is the family idealist. He does the most to stay in contact with his scattered family and he is the only one that sends letters to their father. He will sometimes send a letter to Tsubomi saying that Junrou says hi, only to incur her wrath from across the sea.

Seeing how these doodles are set in the present, their wife/mother Yoshie has been excluded, seeing how almost thirty years have passed since the last time she was seen.

Ah, Masashi. Masashi, Masashi, Masashi. I probably won't be able to draw you so well again if I tried. Seriously, that drawing is the best thing I have done in months. I wanted Masashi's nose to look like it was broken in the past, so I set out to find references on Google Images. You have no idea how hard it is to find a profile picture of Stephen Fry.

The lines in Junrou's cheekbones turned out way too thick. It's especially apparent with the thin lines everywhere else. Fortunately I've gotten some new pens, so this should not be as much of a problem in the future.

Kazuki's hair is based on Archeops' tail. The hachimaki he uses to cover up his eye says "Arceus" in Japanese.

I might get rid of the pattern on Kenta's headband. I only drew Tsubomi's yukata twice and it was murder on my hand. I aslo envision him as the only one to really inherit his father's bulkier build, while his siblings take after their more delicate mother.

While I'm most proud of Masashi technically, I'm most proud of Kazuki's design. I had a good idea of what I wanted for his design and it turned out well, while Kenta and Junrou turned out with more generic hairstyles.
